ZongoConnect Light of the Zongo Foundation

Light of the Zongo Foundation

Someone from your own community has already walked this road.

ZongoConnect matches young people in Zongo communities with adults who have done the thing they are trying to do — trained as a nurse, learned to code, got into university, built a trade. Every mentor is checked and approved by the Foundation before any young person can see them.

For parents and guardians

Nothing happens until you say yes.

If your child is under 18, they cannot be matched with anyone or send a single message until you have given permission. We send you a link, you read what it involves, and you decide. You can withdraw that permission at any time, in one click — and messaging stops the moment you do.

You never need an account, a password, or the app itself.

Read our safeguarding rules

What we do about safety

  • Every mentor is vetted and approved by a named member of staff.
  • Conversations can be read by the safeguarding team, and we say so to everyone before they start.
  • A mentor is never alone with a young person — an in-person session needs another adult present.
  • No photographs of anyone are stored.
  • Mentoring is free. No mentor may ever charge a young person.

How it works

Three steps, then the real work starts

1

Say where you are

Tell us what stage of school you are at and what you want help with. If you are under 18, you add a parent or guardian and we ask them for permission.

2

Find someone who has done it

Search by what you want to learn. Every mentor you can see has already been checked and approved. Send one message saying what you are hoping for.

3

Keep it going

Message them, arrange sessions, and keep track of what you have covered — all in one place, where the Foundation can help if anything goes wrong.

For mentors

Give a few hours. Change what someone thinks is possible.

You do not need to be a professor or a chief executive. You need to have done something a young person in a Zongo community is trying to do, and be willing to talk honestly about how.

Before you appear anywhere, the Foundation checks who you are and a named member of staff approves your profile. That is not a formality — it is the promise we make to every parent.

Arranging a session

Add one booking link and mentees can pick a slot without a back-and-forth. Only these providers are accepted, so nobody can hide a look-alike page behind a mentor profile.
